The teachers of our English Improv Courses:

is an improviser and teacher with an endless desire to explore and learn new things. For hr, improv is at its best when drama and comedy meet and when improvisers can make her both laugh and cry in the same show. As a coach, Tamara brings heart, laughter, energy, passion, and curiosity to the classroom. Tamara's classes consist of a good dose of fun and silliness as well as constructive feedback in order to grow as a group as well as individually.

STEFAN ANDERSSON is an improviser, teacher and artistic director who started improvising over 15 years ago and has international improv experience from ten different countries. His philosophy is that learning improv should be fun and that the best way to learn the art form is through lots of joy and laughter. Seeing students grow and evolve beyond what they at first thought was possible is what drives him and what he loves the most about teaching.

Weekend improv course: True Stories
This course is for improvisers who have taken at least two courses at Stockholms Improvisationsteater, or with similar experience.

Reality surpasses fiction! Let your own experiences take their place on stage, and get confirmation of what you've always suspected - that you are an extremely unique and exciting human being.

Yes, truth and real experiences are the greatest sources of inspiration for an improviser. Having access to your own personal experiences and impressions is an invaluable asset for your scenic expression.
The things that you see, hear and experience in your everyday life already have a natural anchoring in your body, which is a great starting point when creating characters and situations on an empty stage.

We will be working with exercises and techniques from the show City Life, a show where scenes, monologues and songs are interwoven with improvised movement. Everything is based on the improvisers' own, true experiences and memories.

PER GOTTFREDSSON, improviser, director and artistic director at Stockholms Improvisationsteater.

Production Class with Per Gottfredsson

Per has been improvising for 32 years and is one of the owners of Stockholms Improvisationsteater. He is the artistic director of shows like Improviserad Norén, Improviserade Schlagerfestivalen and the Dig Stockholm Impro Festival.

In this production class that leads to four shows, we will focus on finding true characters and building relationships. We will examine and practice what makes a scene truly funny by playing scenes where the comedy can organically and naturally emerge from the characters and the situation, without having to force it.

As improvisers we often feel the pressure to be funny. Perhaps this scenario sounds familiar: You start a long form story, build the platform and slowly and organically create a strong connection to your partner. The audience is paying attention but not gratifying you with laughter. Suddenly, you find yourself saying a funny line, playing emotions without a reason, or maybe changing your character by talking or walking funny.

You get a few laughs from the audience, but you played the scene over the top, lost the momentum and abandoned the story.

This may not be the proudest moment for an improviser, but it happens to all of us. Since laughter is the most obvious and immediate proof that the audience likes what we’re doing, this behaviour is quite understandable.

However, there are ways to avoid this trap.

We will work on the driving forces in a scene, character combinations and on physical humour.

And of course, we will also examine the dark, tragic and more poetic side of humour.

Let us capture the funny moments together!

Students will be selected based on auditions. We expect you to have completed 3 + levels of improv training and may ask for recommendations.

Course days are Wednesdays  at 18.00 -20.45
